Whistler in the woods

The woods and autumn foliage seemed to provide a natural frame for the steam locomotive.

Pier pair

Exhibited: Brush 2003, Ohio Bicentennial Watercolor Exhibition, Columbus, OH.

The afternoon sun created crisp shadows inside these two dinghies, casually tied to a board-walk in Camden harbor in Maine. As the gentle waves rocked the boats, the shadows inside danced in unison.

Rockport Blues

With winter approaching, this boat had been jacked out of the water. The hilly backdrop, with the villas on elevation, gave this painting its perspective.

Golden triangle

I frequent a Chinese restaurant, which has a large aquarium of exotic fishes. I took multiple photographs and created this composition from three different photographs.

Peonies and the Peacock

This oriental theme painting was painted using Chinese brushes.

Desertion in Sepia

This was a study in monochromatic values. I chose sepia to empathize with the abandoned, desolate theme. The entire painting was painted using only one hue, by diluting the paint to render different values.

Lotus pond

Re man har seon aise preet kar, jaise jal kamlahe. Quote from Sri Guru Granth Sahib, holy book of Sikhs.

Meaning: Oh my soul, love thy Lord, as a lotus loves water.
