Homeward Bound

 

Kashmir is a valley in the Himalaya Mountains in northern India. Dal Lake is a natural lake nestled in its capital city of Srinagar. One evening while observing the beautiful sunset on this lake, my meditative silence was enhanced by a lonesome shikara  (a wooden boat with a thatched roof). The boat and boatman’s outline was highlighted by the setting sunlight.

The departing sunrays seem to bounce on the water, the boat and the boatman, with captivating magic.
After a hard days work of carting tourists too and fro on the lake,  this seemed to be his last ride home.
